Beginning January 1, 2023, new sales tax rules from the Kentucky Department of Revenue state that only your “domicile” (primary residence) will be exempt from sales tax on utility services, which includes your electric bills.

Murray Electric System has been providing reliable power to the City of Murray since 1942, and we are proud to not only provide services, but to also be your neighbors. When a MES employee comes to your home, or you come in to our office, you are dealing with someone that is from around here. TVA PROGRAMS

  • LIHEAP

    We understand that sometimes it can be difficult to pay your energy bills, but assistance may be available through a variety of resources, including the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).

  • Home Uplift program

    Home Uplift provides an average of $10,000 in free (yes, free) home energy upgrades to income-eligible customers. New or repaired HVAC units, attic and wall insulation, appliances, electric water heaters — these are just a few of the home energy upgrades that you may receive through Home Uplift.

  • TVA Solar Virtual Education

    This is a tour of a virtual barn where you can learn more about renewable energy, and how it can benefit you are your community.

Murray Electric System has been and will continue to be proactive in system planning, improvements, and implementing new customer service improvements and collaborating with our partner TVA in meeting the demands of an ever changing and fast-growing community.

The operation of a power system is a twenty-four-hour, 365 day per year job. Be assured that MES is constantly on the job to keep your power on and your comfort level high in your workplace and residence.
